About

EMJIE’s music carries a love of songs into the club. Classic house and indie dance meet retro leads, her own vocals, strong basslines and percussion. Rock is part of that vocabulary: growing up, she listened to The Cure, Simply Red and Michael Jackson. Her artist name pays tribute to Jackson, while her productions and live performances give those early influences a place in electronic music.

Finding the feeling

She began DJing at home in 2019, with the simple intention of enjoying herself and making something. In a 2025 Beatportal interview, she recalled how an uninspired studio day changed when she found a Green Velvet interview while searching for samples. His cheerful response to a question about how he felt sparked the Love Generation EP. The record grew out of a shift in mood, with the familiar sound of the M1 helping her find its character.

That attention to feeling carries into her sets. She adapts to the audience, venue and hour, and tests productions in front of dancers before releasing them. A weekly Studio Brussel residency in 2023 gave her another kind of practice: keeping a broad radio audience interested while staying close to her own taste.

From the booth to the stage

Based in Belgium, EMJIE holds a residency at Rockerill and curates nights at Ampere in Antwerp. In August 2025, she introduced a live show at Mysteryland with electric guitar and vocals. Her releases include records on Get Physical, YesYesYes, Exploited, Renaissance and Bar25, followed in 2026 by Spirit Higher with LP Giobbi. The connection between playing records, writing them and performing them keeps widening.
