About

SAAND’s musical roots reach back to Southern California’s rave scene. Born and raised there, the Los Angeles-based producer Michael Sandler first encountered electronic music at thirteen, listening to breaks, trance, drum and bass and hardcore. A year later, a night in San Bernardino hearing Doc Martin and DJ Trance made a lasting impression. His work since then has explored different levels of intensity, from club records to music for quieter hours.

Building Tierra Sounds

Tierra Sounds grew from a practical wish: to release his own productions and work with artists whose music he admired. The name draws on the Spanish word for earth, reflecting an interest in the sounds and experiences of travel. In 2018, he described Verano as a record for summer days, imagining it beside the sea or playing through a car with the windows down. Setting was part of the composition.

Music for quieter hours

The ten-track Mantric Moods, released in 2024, developed that quieter side over roughly three years. He made pieces as different moods arrived, then selected the music that belonged together. Releasing it through Tierra Sounds let him keep ownership and control while bringing listeners to the wider label. In his account of the record, a calm listening experience had as much value as the excitement of a club set.

His 2026 single Los Angeles on Music is 4 Lovers arrived with remixes by Audiojack, Francesca Lombardo and Mihai Popoviciu. On I AM YOU, he contributes Groovy Geisha to ALL OF US 001. Across those records and his work running Tierra Sounds, SAAND makes room for both his own changing interests and the artists he invites into the conversation.
