Nina Hepburn’s relationship with melody began before the decks. Raised in a musical family, the Hamburg DJ and producer played violin as a child, started DJing in 2015 and moved into production in 2017. Her sound brings melodic passages together with percussion, rolling basslines and disco-coloured synthesizers, moving through house, trance and techno with room for both detail and momentum.

Taking time with the dancefloor

Time matters in her approach to a set. On her official website, she describes DJing as telling a musical story in exchange with the audience, letting the mood develop over the hours. All Day Long and All Night Long performances give that process its fullest space. An eight-hour set is something she embraces for the pleasure of playing, with time to follow the room and build connections between records.

That relationship with the dancefloor also takes shape in VOIX, the event series she curates in Hamburg. Her touring history includes Fusion, MS Dockville, Habitat and Bucht der Träumer, alongside performances across Europe and in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Mauritius. The long sets and her own events give listeners different ways to encounter the same musical perspective.

From sets to records

In the studio, her discography includes the Away From Earth EP and Ninamoon, with an early remix appearing in 2019 and her first EP following on Mono.Noise in 2022. Production gives her another way to work with the melodic and rhythmic ideas that run through her sets. Samsara carries that patient, melodic approach into ALL OF US 001.
